What Are the Basic Components of a Gantt Chart?

Modified on Wed, 9 Oct, 2024 at 6:13 AM

In Active Intelligence Visualization (AIV), a Gantt chart consists of several essential components that facilitate effective project tracking and management:

  1. Timeline: Located at the top, this horizontal axis represents the project duration in months, weeks, days, or years.

  2. Dateline: A vertical line marking the current date, providing a clear view of project status.

  3. Bars: Horizontal bars illustrate tasks, showcasing their start and end dates, duration, and progress.

  4. Dependencies: Visual links (often blue lines) connect tasks that must occur in a specific sequence.

  5. Progress Indicators: Displayed within task bars, progress is often represented by a shaded area or a percentage, indicating how much of a task is completed.

  6. Task Title: Each task is labeled with a descriptive title adjacent to its corresponding bar.

  7. Task Duration: Represented by the length of the taskbar, it indicates the total time required to complete each task.
